Long Sands 5K Race – RETURNS!!
October 24, 2021

Sunday, October 24, 2021 (8:30 am start).

Join us for a unique 2-lap, 5k race run entirely on the hard packed sands of scenic Long Sands Beach in York, Maine. Feel free to race hard, run easy or walk the course and Hopefully enjoy a beautiful fall morning in southern Maine.

Proceeds from our  fundraising event will help fund our non-profit educational youth, middle school, High school CLUB cross-country (nordic) ski programs and Allow us continue to provide local ski grooming in the Greater York Region.
Covid-19 Notice:
Race organizers will be adhering to CDC and Maine Covid Protocols.  Should the race be deemed unsafe to race “in-person,” we reserve the right to shift to a full virtual running race format.
When:
Sunday, October 24, 2021 (low tide)
8:30 am start time

Long Sands Beach, York, Maine
Start / Finish / Registration near Long Sands Bathhouse
Virtual Event:
Run a 5k on the course of your choice in the week prior to Oct. 24 and email us your time (honor system).
Registration
Pre-registration: $30; runreg.com (Saturday, October 23 at 5 pm)
Virtual: $20; runreg.com (ends Saturday, October 24 at 12pm)
Race day registration: $35 (CASH OR check only); 7:30-8:20am
Race day bib pickup only: 7:30-8:20am

Race Start Times: The 5KM RACE starts at 9:30 am. Kids Fun run and Walk to follow!

Start & Finish:  Near the Long Sands Bathhouse, Long Sands Beach, York, Maine.

Parking:  It is recommended that Participants Park at the Registration Site – along Long Sands Beach – you may park on the right-hand side of the road.  Parking is free.

Race Map:  Long Sands Beach 5K Race Map can be found here (NOTE there will NOT be a separate kids race as noted on the map – just one 5K race). 

5K Race Awards will be given to the Top Male & Female Runners.

Day-of Race Registration:  AT REGISTRATION SITE.  $35 PER ENTRY ALL CATEGORIES (NO T-SHIRT FOR “DAY-OF” REGISTRATION).  LIMITED Qty of T-Shirts available for purchase (CASH or CHECK ONLY) – day of race! 

FINAL RACE INFORMATION EMAIL WILL BE SENT OUT WEEK PRIOR TO EVENT TO ALL REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS.

T-Shirts
Custom performance shirts to the first 50 registrants.
Fueling
Water may be available before and after the race, however we strongly encourage participants to bring their own water bottles.
Snacks available post-race.
Awards
Top – Age group winners (age groups TBD).
Virtual participants NOT eligible for awards.

WEATHER:

October weather is variable so please dress appropriately. Packing a dry change of clothes or dry layers for after the race to leave near the finish area is recommended. Race Director/s and volunteers are NOT responsible for your personal belongings.

In the event of forecasted thunderstorms, hail, lightning or unforseen weather event deemed by the Race Director as dangerous for the participants – the event/s will be cancelled and participants notified by email.  NO REFUNDS will be given.

Agamenticus Ski Club is a community-based ski club committed to meeting the needs of a wide range of skiers – including youth, junior, senior and master skiers.  Our mission is to support and build a strong community through educational programs to promote health, fitness and fun through skiing.

The goal of Agamenticus Ski Club is to develop a broad range of programs, events and training opportunities to support recreational skiers and racers throughout the Greater York Region.
